INTRODUCTION:  Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of T.C.A.A.  The challenging nature and scope of our duties, coupled with the need to maintain an essential bond of trust between us and the community we serve, require that we have people who are capable, reliable, and trustworthy and who will conduct themselves in a positive and professional manner in representing the Association.  With that in mind, we ask that you read the following, before completing the attached application form.

OVERVIEW:  TCAA is a volunteer organization whose purpose and mission include: Basic Life Support Emergency Medical Care; Emergency Transportation; Emergency Road and Vehicle Rescue; Water Emergency Response; and Search and Rescue Operations in the vicinity of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania.  Supporting these operations is our cadre of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Drivers, Ambulance Attendants, and other specialists who are either trained in emergency operations or are willing to complete such training.  This may include such courses as EMT, First Responder, First Aid, CPR, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Vehicle Rescue, Rope Rescue, and Water Rescue.

TRAINING AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:

TCAA members are considered health care professionals.  As such, we consider it our responsibility to provide the best possible pre-hospital care to the sick and injured within our service area or other areas as may be required by operational requirements.

Incidents involving ambulance services, ect., can be highly stressful, emotionally charged situations; nonetheless, in serving the public, TCAA personnel are expected to be disciplined and courteous, as well as neatly dressed and well groomed at all times.

Patient privacy is an essential part of and a paramount consideration in doing our job; what is observed within the scope of duty must be treated with the utmost discretion and confidentiality.

Within the first six months of assignment, all new members are required to complete CPR, Advanced First Aid, and other specialized training, consistent with the responsibilities of assigned/projected duties.

From time to time, members may be asked to participate in work parties, public service calls, and other duties on support of the organization and our community.

Background checks are conducted for all prospective members; your signature herein serves as authorization for this check.

If you wish to apply for membership, please sign below, complete the attached application, and return it, along with $5.00 for dues to the address listed.

CONCLUSION:  When we receive your completed application, a member of our Personnel Committee will contact you to schedule an interview.  Following the interview, the application will be reviewed by our Board of Directors at the next scheduled meeting, after which you will be notified of their decision.
